Practice Development Manager – This is a job advert, but more importantly, it is a call to action.

A call to action to a qualified mental health practitioner with lots of experience of working within the mental health profession with children and young people.

A call to action to someone who believes in embedded therapeutic approaches that are research-based, systems-focused and draw on socio-ecological perspectives.

A call to action to a person who wants to work alongside Blackpool children and young people (and even at times others around the world) to realise their amazing potential.

A call to action to a practitioner who wants to do things differently and join Blackpool residents, practitioners and academics in an exciting social movement called the Resilience Revolution……

Young people in Blackpool are co-leading a Resilience Revolution; a world first whole town approach to addressing the inequalities that impact on young people in relation to their mental health. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund HeadStart programme, Blackpool have adopted the Boingboing resilience approach known as Resilient Therapy (RT) as the catalyst and foundation for their revolution. Rooted in the values and principles associated with social justice, the Resilience Revolution both supports young people and communities across Blackpool to overcome adversity, as well as addresses and challenges the inequalities impacting on their mental health. We call this ‘beating the odds whilst also changing the odds’.

As momentum builds, and in recognition of the pivotal role that CAMHS play in realising the ambition of the Resilience Revolution, we are seeking a senior Practice Development Manager who will be part of Boingboing and also an associate member of the Centre of Resilience for Social Justice at the University of Brighton. We want that person to take both a strategic and practice focus in supporting Blackpool CAMHS to embed and develop practice in line with the RT approach. You will be able to work co-productively with all stakeholders to shape practice and develop systems that enable the RT approach to be utilised to best effect. You will be knowledgeable about young people’s mental health policy and legislation, and have a track record of implementing creative solutions and embedded therapeutic approaches that meet the complex demands on the service.

We are open to recruiting someone from a broad range of mental health backgrounds including psychology (of any persuasion), psychiatry, counselling, occupational therapy, nursing, social work etc. The post will be fixed term for two years in the first instance and we would welcome a secondment.
