Lauren Wyatt – Peer Youth Engagement Worker, Blackpool
Hi I’m Lauren and I am super excited to start working for Boingboing as a Peer Youth Engagement worker. I am looking forward to becoming a part of an organisation and community of people who have inclusion, equality and Beating the Odds whilst Changing the Odds at their heart. I have recently enjoyed volunteering for the Blackpool Grand Theatre with children from Blackpool Carers’ Centre, The Magic Club and Grand Young Company, on a creative project exploring social media and technology. I love helping to give young people the chance to have a creative voice, enjoying the process just as much as the end piece! I have a dance background and enjoy anything creative, whether it is creating drama and dance pieces, doing art and crafts, or just exploring ideas. Over the last couple of years, I have had lived experience of navigating systems through dealing with prolonged injury. Therefore, it really excites me that Boingboing acknowledges the systems in an individual’s life and how that can affect a person’s resilience. In the future, I hope to work and collaborate with more children and young people across Blackpool and beyond. I am excited to start working with Boingboing learning, working, and collaborating with new people!
